This year will bring us a few very interesting concept cars. Here’s a preview of what we will see at the show:

Chrysler ecoVoyager

The 2008 Chrysler ecoVoyager Concept is a four-door, four-passenger vehicle that is simultaneously sleek, futuristic, and distinctively American. Its one-box design – and the absence of a traditional powertrain setup – allowed designers to make uniquely efficient use of the cabin’s parameters. The ecoVoyager also mates an advanced lithium-ion battery pack to an advanced hydrogen fuel cell, resulting in a vehicle with a range of more than 300 miles that emits nothing from the tailpipe but water vapor.

Dodge ZEO

If you’d like to see what the next generation of muscle cars will be like, look no further than the 2008 Dodge ZEO Concept. The four-passenger sport wagon was designed for driving enthusiasts and tree-huggers alike. It’s equipped with an all-electric, lithium-ion battery powerplant that can go up to 250 miles before needing to be recharged. And even though it doesn’t burn gas, it certainly can burn rubber, going from 0-60 miles per hour in under six seconds.

Ford Explorer America

Ford is preparing radical changes for the Explorer, probably to give it a modern look and especially to adjust to the new market and high oil prices. The Explorer America concept is built on a more car-like unibody frame, rather than the traditional truck frame, to reduce weight by 150 pounds and improve drivability. Lightweight materials, smaller but more powerful engines, aerodynamic improvements and fuel-saving electric power-assisted steering are among the other ways Ford dropped weight from the vehicle to improve fuel economy.

Hummer HX

Nothing much to say… the word “Hummer” pretty much describes it all

Mazda Furai

Mazda Furai takes Mazda’s unique Nagare (Japanese for “flow”) design language a step further as it is translated into a concept car based on an American Le Mans Series (ALMS) racing car. The only available picture of this car is a teaser from Mazda:

Mercedes-Benz GLK Vision GLK Freeside

The concept is powered by a 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel engine making 168 hp. It uses the Bluetec system, which injects a urea solution called AdBlue into the exhaust to get rid of eighty percent of NOx in the form of nitrogen and water vapor.

Mitsubishi Concept-RA

This coupe concept features the Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) vehicle dynamics control system driveline and the Twin Clutch SST automated manual transmission used in Lancer Evolution*1, is powered by a new high-output, high-efficiency clean diesel engine.

Nissan Forum

It’s definitely difficult finding information about this car on the internet, as you’ll find many Nissan fans forums instead of the actual car. The car contains lots and lots of gadgets, including Nissan’s Around View Monitor (AVM) system which uses four cameras to give a 360 view of the cars surrounding and a ‘Kids Cam’ which uses multiple rear-mounted cameras connected to an instrument panel display, concerned parents can get a panoramic view of their kids without having to turn around.

Saab 9-4X

Saab will most likely present a sporty SUV with a lot of the Aero X look in the front, low side windows, and short overhangs.

Toyota A-BAT

The A-BAT concept rides on a unibody platform for car-like handling when navigating city streets and crowded parking lots, and smooth ride quality for highway trips and the everyday commute.

The concept’s unique look is a combination of the large body surfaces, intersecting tight surface planes, crisp lines and the trapezoidal profile. The A-BAT’s 19-inch wheels sit at the vehicle’s corners creating a tough and ready stance.
